Virtual Santa Visits

            If someone had told me two years ago that I would be able to conduct virtual Santa visits with people in their own homes without even going there, I would have thought they were making it up. At the time, I didn’t even know how to make a Facebook or Skype call, let alone something called a Zoom visit. My how the world can change and often we must change with it. So, with quite a bit of reluctancy I began to learn all about this new technology and before long I was making virtual Santa visits through Zoom.

            I already had the perfect place to stage my Zoom Santa calls. I call it the Santa House and it is a garage apartment behind my house that I use to house my growing collection of Santa Claus memorabilia. There are two Christmas trees that stay up year-round and when I turn the lights on Christmas music plays and the ornaments on one of the trees begin to twirl. In my own “North Pole” office I can recreate what I think Santa’s own residence would look like.

            While most of my personal visits are made in the High Point, Greensboro and Winston-Salem area of North Carolina, from my North Pole office I can now make Zoom visits anywhere in the world! Last year when I started embracing this new technology I enjoyed visiting with folks from Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Colorado and even Canada. All from the comfort of my own office, Santa can share stories with my guests and show them many of items in my personal collection. I can even share a recipe for Santa’s favorite oatmeal raisin cookies from my kitchen.
